Finding Success In Your Home Business Tips

Find Success In Your Home Business Tips

Who is a successful entrepreneur? – the answer lies in the person who seems to achieve success in business as if by some magic formula, but in reality there is none except some practical down-to-earthly traits which he/she has imbibed or cultivated over a period in time. Topping the list of such characteristics, is the entrepreneur’s self-confidence in his/her own self and ability to excel in comparison to others, followed by sheer efforts to stay focused on a rather lofty objective, and thirdly by a judicious combination of risk-taking mixed with caution in almost perfect balance.

People who are achievers succeed in business by naturally displaying some very interesting behaviors that seem to be based on easily assimilated characteristics such as decision-making, independent thinking, dedication to work, emphasis on more effort than luck, and so on, in addition to the top three, mentioned above. Again even among those key characteristics, Self-confidence stands as the hallmark of the successful entrepreneur, without which all the other characteristics would fade or vaporize into  thin air. Such is the standing of self-confidence as an essential trait, in the overall making of a persons ability to succeed in business.

Adopting a few small but effective strategies can further strengthen this potential self-confidence mechanism. (a) Nurturing a positive attitude, would enhance self-confidence, in oneself which in turn would lead to spreading the almost infectious messages of positive thinking to all those (friends, clients, peers and subordinates) who are associated. (b) Transforming positive thoughts into visible action focused on the business goals, going in small but steady steps, constantly striving and pushing towards achievement of success in the business. (c) Always conceiving and creating alternative routes to reach the business objectives and ultimately success.

Above all, the successful entrepreneur generally has to think faster to see ahead of the others, and decide the pace of progress keeping a delicate balance between one’s own abilities and the business goals in the short and in the long term, never accepting defeat/setback casually.

On the whole the person who possesses some of the desirable traits such as Self-confidence, positive thinking, the never-give-up attitude, and those who can see ahead of the others, seem to be the forerunners in the race to establish themselves as  successful  entrepreneurs. It is these characteristics that others have to strive to emulate in the highly competitive sphere of business functions and successful entrepreneurship.

How To Pick Target Market For Your Product

On e of the successful way to make money is to create a product or service that people want and need. Second most important thing is to find and target those people who might be right customer for your offering. Not easy, but here are some ways to target these customers who are potential buyers for your product.

How to Select Target Market For Your Product:

Successful marketing is the combined result of a number of clearly spelt-out strategies for identifying the target market, apart from other niche segments,  and implementing them with conviction and commitment to both these steps, and the constituents of the market itself. The term target does specify the thrust areas to focus one’s marketing efforts, but does not exclude others. The pattern or sequence of the thrust, applied one at a time, does perhaps ensure concentration of efforts and the feasibility to see positive results, for review and modification in the next target area.

One added advantage is that, the marketing team can study in depth, the intrinsic structure, language and specific features of the target  market and decide on individually suited actions and thus maximize the returns. However this ten step ladder to success is a compilation of simple down-to earth basics, in the definition and identification of the target and its features.

Identify problems specific to the target group: Each target group is bound to have some specific issues, and hence it is all the more necessary to address the thrust efforts on that. In this way the positive multiplier effect could prove extremely beneficial to the marketing team’s objectives.

Study the Structure: Each target group possesses a pattern, and the marketing team should know the composition of the people, their ages, earning capacities and working preferences, to be able to apply the proper marketing tools and techniques.

Identify the sub-groups: Within the main group, a number of sub-groups could exist and it is imperative for the marketing efforts to be aligned to suit such sub targets, examples are high percentage of skiers, pop music enthusiasts, farmers and so on.

Familiarity of the product specific to the group: How much or less informed, the target group is about the marketed product or service plays an important role in the marketing team’s efforts to target the group.

Connected organizations: The presence of connected organizations who could impact on the buying practices of the members of the target group is a key factor, which needs to be taken cognizance of, in determining the applicability of certain marketing strategies, to that group.

Matching between target group and marketing team:  How familiar is one’s team with reference to the target group, in respect of marketing this or that product/service, and how past experiences  can throw light on the need for specific steps within the thrust.

Role of media: What are the specific roles played by different media segments, newspapers, weeklies, websites and the nuances of each one of them within the target group.

Operating Pulse: Each target group has a natural frequency, what is it or what is the range, so that the marketing teams’ efforts will gel with that of the group.

Extraneous Influences: Outside influencing agents can exist, and it would be worth everything to know who they are, and what is their level of expertise or skills, such that suitable marketing strategies can be realigned.

Specific Idiosyncrasies: Each target has some unique features, and the marketing team would be greatly benefited to know how well they would be liked or equipped to deal with the group in all their activities.

The big question is still how to identify the target group, and after that the bigger question is how to effectively combine and apply these steps for successful marketing overall.

How to Achieve Your Goals

Importance of Goal Setting

Everyone has goals in life. Sometimes we have single goal, sometimes we have many goals and do not know where to start and how to maintain the enthusiasm for reaching our goals.

Goals can come in small and big size both, short terms goals are as important as long term goals and we need to choose both types of goal in our life. For example, short term goal would be save money for bills next month and long term goal could be saving for retirement funds.

I have goals and given up many times, I have found three ways to be motivated to keep going until I reach my final goal and maintain it and I thought of sharing it here for all of you so we can all achieve the final result and be successful at reaching the goal.

If You Could Achieve One Goal in 24 Hours

3 Tips to Achieve and Maintaining your Goals

Before you set a time to set your goals for your life, you should also check to see if going after that goal is current time is worth the effort. Making choices for goals can be time consuming but it sure saves headache and time later on to make sure your goals are fit for the lifestyleyou are going after.

1.Set Target for Your Goal:

Having a goal that is measurable, specific and realistic makes a difference. We can have short term and long term goals. Long terms goals can be broken down in to a smaller chunks to make it easier to achieve.

For example, losing weight is a general goal that is not specific. You want to have a goal such as losing 30 lbs in 12 months is measurable, specific and realistic. That yearly goal can be broken in to monthly or weekly tasks that will help you keep motivated throughout the year to keep working on the goal and maintain it once you achieve it.
2. See final results and Benefits of the Goal

Many of us make goals and resolutions but give up on half way through. It is because we do not see the final end result or benefits of reaching that goal. It could be losing weight goal, final result could be looking great in any outfit, beautiful for girls and handsome for men. Being attractive to opposite sex is a great confidence booster for any of us, keeping that in mind, we should continue to work on the goal, when going gets tough.

When things are hard, think of the final results and benefit of reaching that goal to keep focus until we reach the goal.

3. List the Goal Obstacles

Many times, reaching goals can be tough as people do not think of any possible setbacks or obstacles that can come between reaching the goal. Nothing is easy in life, at least not so much cakewalk. Having a right expectations and back up plans always helps when obstacles come in between you and your goal to make you successful or looking beautiful.

Keeping commitment and focus to keep going to reach the final results is necessary to reach any goal for most of us. Sometimes we want results overnight, losing weight, becoming financially free or getting success can take time sometimes and patience is a great virtue for it. Once you finally reach your goal through obstacles and issues, your confidence and self esteem will soar and you will be able to tackle more goals to make your self more successful at whatever you desire.

Good luck.

What You Need To Know About Taxes and Online Business

Taxes: They’ll Catch Up On You

This is part of tax series, when you have a online business and not paying taxes can be a blow for you and your LLC or Corporation. What do you need to know about paying taxes for your online business?
Doing business online is starting to be a much
preferred way of transacting business both by the
sellers and the buyers not only because it is way more
hassle-free than real shopping but also because it
provides a chance for a tax-free business transaction
to transpire.

However, the happy days of transacting business
without worrying about the taxes that come along with
it will soon be over because on July 1, 2008,
Washington will be joining 18 other states in America
that oblige certain online or e-commerce businesses to
pay and collect sale taxes.

If you have an online business or if you are planning
to start one, then you will also be required to
collect taxes from your consumers or costumers if ever
you are residing in a state that requires you to pay
taxes.

A State Law Passed In 2007

The changes to be implemented on July 1 are the result
of a state law passed in 2007. The certain state law
changes the way the taxes are calculated – a major
alteration that spurs some headaches and confusion
among all online retailers.

Take this situation for example: if you decide to shop
and purchase in a shop or store, you are obliged to
pay the tax rate depending on where the store is
located. However, if you decide to have the stuffs
that you purchased delivered to your doorstep, you are
obliged to pay for the tax rate of your state.

In technical terms, the tax system will be changed
from origin-based to destination-based.

The Tax Is Not Levied On The Business

Yes, you read that right – the tax is not levied on
the business, instead, it is levied on the part of the
consumer. It is the obligation of online businesses to
collect tax from its consumers and remit it to the
state.

The government is strictly issuing penalties for
businesses that fail to adhere to the law.

Online businesses are not excused from this law, in
fact, more law enforcers and agents are being sent to
check on the legality of online stores and businesses.

One common Internet myth is that the Internet Tax
Freedom Act allows online businesses from being
exempted from collecting sales tax from their
consumers. It is truly considered as one big myth
because in reality, it does not actually stop the
states from collecting sales tax on online businesses
and other e-commerce.

Sure, the Internet Tax Freedom Act does not impose
sales tax on Internet access fees but aside from that,
taxes are already imposed.

When You Make Money Online, You Have To Pay Taxes When
you earn, you really have to pay taxes; it’s a known
fact and perhaps what we can call a bittersweet
reality. Sure, it may be a bit difficult on our part
to surrender a part of our hard-earned money for tax
dues but the truth is, everyone is doing so.

Taxes and Your Online Business

Taxes: Do You Have to Pay when You Blogging?

One of the confusing thing for new blogger is do they have to pay taxes even if they make a little money only. While I am not a tax expert, I know thing or two from owning a business and having my own financial person to help me with taxes. See also: What Do You Need To Know About Blog Business taxes?

If you are a neophyte in realm of online business, then perhaps you have a lot of questions that are
plaguing your mind and one of them may be all about whether you are obliged to pay taxes for your online
business or not.

Calculating and paying your duly taxes alone is already one confusing ride, and surely it will get
more confusing if it will be mixed with an online business.

However, as they say, there’s no problem that cannot be solved. With just a few tips and guides, you can
find out how to pay taxes for your online business without any hassles or problems along the way.

The Charm Of Online Business

Before we talk about taxes and your online business,
let’s discuss first why more and more people are
getting attracted to starting their own online
business.

Well, first of all, it is very hassle-free compared to
having a business in the non-virtual world. You see,
in online business, you only have to type and click
for your business to boom.

Very minimal manual labor is needed in an online
business and one can even get to work at home in their
pajamas while managing their online business.

Now the question is: are online businessmen or
entrepreneurs exempted from paying taxes? The answer
is no. All individuals who are earning money online
are required to pay taxes.

Sure, the government can’t possibly keep track of how
much money each person generates online but then
again, it’s one of the citizens’ responsibilities to
go ahead and be responsible enough to pay for their
taxes.

The Real Deal About Most Online Businesses

The truth is, not everybody who does business online
is honestly paying their due taxes. Most online
businesses include shopping and it’s a known fact that
most if not all shoppers despise paying sales tax and
adore a bargain that is luxuriously tax-free.

The Internet is actually considered to be a great
venue for tax-free shopping which lures more and more
customers each day. Online retailers have been using a
no-tax shopping tag line to attract more online
shoppers to their business.

Sounds like a win-win situation, right? Online
shoppers enjoy numerous tax-free shopping sprees and
online retailers don’t pay their taxes. Most people
probably think that doing business through the
Internet is considered to be tax-free.

However, the fact is, some Internet sales are actually
subject to what we know as “sales tax” and online
consumers are the ones often responsible to remit any
unpaid sales tax on whatever online products they have
purchased.

They can actually remit it directly to their state
come tax-paying time.

Collecting Sales Tax The process of determining
whether you should pay taxes for your online business
or not may be quite confusing and overwhelming –
especially if it’s your first time to get involved in
online business.

However, here are just some few tips you should
remember: the obligation to pay the so-called “Sales
Tax” can be determined by the location of the
customers, and not the seller.

If a business does not actually have a physical
presence in a particular state (an example of this
would be your online store or business), it is not
required to collect sales tax from costumers in that
certain state.

What Happened To Scroogle and Scroogle Alternatives

If you were a scroogle user, then you already know how useful tool it was,for those of you who do not know, scroogle allowed you to search without your own bias and preference, meaning you got more better view of your ranking. If you search your own site in google, Google gives it more preferential treatment for your own site, having search and worked on it. For example, if I were to search for “Home Business Ideas” in google my site would come up much higher ranking on my computer, compare to say someone else truly searching for home business ideas search. It would be inflated ego boost to see my site ranking higher but it would not be right ranking. So if you want a unbiased ranking, scroogle was a great and free alternative to other paid services that many Internet marketer used.

I have been relying on scroogle to find out my site ranking for free. Yes, you can find your website ranking with market samurai or other paid tool, but scroogle did that perfectly with ease and simpleness to use for anyone.

I knew once in a while scroogle goes offline so after days when I was unable to get any searches done in scroogle, I had to find out what happened to scroogle and why it was not working for more than a few weeks.

What Happened to Scroogle?

Whenever scroogle was down, people used to see “google is mad at us” type of message. This time there was no message but it said scroogle is not found.  I had to find out that what happened and I found out that it was not Google who shut down the site, it was shut down by its own owner after much frustration, read here : Daniel Brandt  at Betabit Article.  Nice, free alternative site was attacked by hackers to create denial of service issues. God knows why any hackers want to ruin a good, free service like scroogle is beyond me. But scroogle is gone this time and unlike 2010, it seems scroogle is gone for good.

Find Scroogle Alternatives:

So, if you used scroogle or interested in scroogle alternative, that let you do annyomous search and find your website ranking, what a person to do? I did little research and found a few alternatives which may work as scroogle alternative for now.

What Page I am On:

This is a neat little free search engine tool. You enter your keyword and website URL, it will tell you what page your keyword is sitting on. It does not tell you ranking by number, but you will know page it is sitting on. Currently, what page I am on site is able to do first 10 page searches and be able to tell you if you are there or not.

What I like about What Page I am on:

  • Free
  • Enter keyword and URL to know your ranking
  • Easy to search

Things to consider:

  • Only first 10 pages search
  • Does not tell ranking # such as #35 or #1, just tells the page URL shows up

Page Wash dot com:

Page wash is free search engine tool where you can do specific search, for example, google.com or google.co.uk for UK based search and so on. You also will have an option for remove all cookies, scripts, remove ads and so on.

Things I like about Page Wash:

  • Anonymous search
  • Free
  • Country, place based search result if you want
  • Can clear cookies, scripts
  • remove ads and hide referrer information

Things to consider:

  • It does not tell you ranking, you have to find it

Duckduck go:

Duckduck go claims to have more privacy than Google and it surely has less ads and spam ads above compare to Google. Seems pretty neat for searching online.

Things I like about duck duck go:

  • Pretty neat name for a search engine: seems like we are playing a game 🙂
  • Free
  • Less ads and spam
  • Private searches

Things to consider:

  • For ranking you will have to dig and search through your site info
  • Search engine results are bit different than google ranking

Start Page:

I am beginning to like start page a lot. You can do private search through ixquick proxy, it does not record and keep your IP information and search are based on unbiased google search. What is not to like;

  • Free
  • Anonymous search
  • No IP recording: protecting your privacy
  • Unbiased search results
  • Quick

Things to consider:

  • Ranking have to be manually searched in

Additional Choice:

There is Encrypted Google for those who may trust google to give unbiased search result. I have used it and it tends to give US based search which is fine for me, as I am US. However for those outside US may not get clear search result for their countries.

After SOPA Now New Internet Surveillance Bill HR1981:

A friend of mine today sent me this video about a new internet surveillance bill called HR1981. Unlike SOPA, this bill is relatively unknown (so far) from media and seems to be right now focused on Canadian ISP, but I am told, US and other countries are next in line. So, what is this and why should we care.

Internet Surveillance Bill, WORSE Than SOPA: Explained

This bill HR1981, seems to be about “protecting children from pornographers”, as a parent of a child, this matters to me a lot as I am sure many other parent will feel the same. However, from what looks like, this bills treats “everyone”, including you me and you as guilty and monitors every move and keeps data for at least a one year for everyone using internet.

Why this is a concern;

1. Everyone is affected, bloggers, internet marketer, people who use online bill payment, people who use email and anything online.

2. Your IP address is tracked, even when one is using proxies. According to David Seaman, people who uses proxies services are going to be scrutinized more.  Many blogger and internet marketer tend to use proxies services,

3. This is relatively unknown and under reported by media so far, so not many people seem to know about it.

I think everything in news has good and bad stuff,  this bill may have good intent, but it can be misused if everyone is going to be under scrutiny, even innocent people who use internet to read news, or send an email.  Here are news and video explaining what it is, so you can make your own mind and be aware and see how it may affect us.

Here is little news information so far about it that I found;

Where is HR1981 outrage by David Seaman

Toews surprised by content of online surveillance bill

Just know your laws and how it affects us. Happy blogging.

Why You Should Not Use GoDaddy For Your Internet Business

Avoid Godaddy

As an internet marketer and working from online business, one the way I make some money is via affiliate marketing. For example, if I recommend a product and if my reader buys it, I make a small commission. Affiliate marketing is one of the great way to make money, selling other people’s product without much effort to create a product myself.

As a person who has lost some money on stupid or over hyped products, I know it is not fun to lose money on crappy products. I like to do ethical internet marketing and show you which products to NOT buy and save your money. I have  written a few reviews to show you products that I have used and/or like. Here is a popular domain and webhosting Godaddy and why you should avoid using it.

GoDaddy Hosting and Domains

I have been GoDaddy Customer and still in process of removing my domains with other Registrar such as Namecheap or Bluehost. I have been a customer and an affiliate for GoDaddy but I am no longer recommending Godaddy for following reasons;

1. GoDaddy upsells pricy add-ons.

Many people use GoDaddy’s dirt cheap coupon codes to get $1.99 domain and cheap hosting. However, when you try to buy it, godaddy tries to add so many upsell and some additional item so your final price is much higher. One time, I had to call back to remove extra add-ons that came with upsell.

2. GoDaddy is confusing for Newbies

A few of my clients was trying to set up  first blog, and Goddady site was confusing and hard to use for novices. As seen in #1, Godaddy upsells and adds some services that it becomes expensive, confusing and frustrating for some. Unless you know and have used it before, I would suggest buy from elsewhere or if you must buy it, make sure to have an expert next to you.

3. GoDaddy Supports SOPA and Backs Off

As I have written in my post SOPA  issue, which is thankfully postponed for now, Godaddy was initially supporting SOPA and PIPA. In easy terms, that means, if you had a domain or hosting from Godaddy, they can shut down your site if you used any copyright material or even linked to it by chance. So think of this way, great site like wikipedia would not exist, as there will be no free knowledge sharing, no downloads, no linking .

After many internet marketer took their business away, GoDaddy relented and stop supporting SOPA sort of. When you are running a business, you want to protect your business and content and work with companies that are stable and stable in decision making.

4. GoDaddy Hosting is slow

Godaddy apprantely puts so many domains on one server, slowing the websites for everyone involved. As these sites competes for space and bandwidth, it slows down your site, means if you lose your readers and customers for sites that sell merchandise.

Not only that, if your site loads up slow, Google penalizes your site and ranks it much lower. Why would anyone want to rank low, knowingly?

Another problem with slow hosting and slow server is, you will not know if anything is broken or needs maintenance on your site for half an hour or longer.

5. GoDaddy does not give you cPanel Control

For those of you, who are already blogging knows the power that cPanel can give in controlling and managing your domain and content. I have bluehost for hosting this website, while they are about $6 a month compared to $4 a month for GoDaddy, bluehost gives me cPanel to manage my domains. As an administrator of your site, I rather have a control of my own site and content via cPanel. You get none from Godaddy.

6. GoDaddy have lousy relationship with publishers.

For Godaddy, if you are a small publisher making little money for them, they do not care much. I have 4 people told me, they bought Godaddy from my links, yet it never clicked or registered with GoDaddy. I sent them proof of purchase from clients and their email and there was no response. I finally got to talk with one person, who seemed nice enough but did not do anything for me in the end.

Not only that, clients who bought Godaddy domain or hosting, had a such as terrible time with Godaddy customer service that I felt as I recommended them, it was my responsibility to only recommend good product with good customer services. Now, I know all Godaddy’s Rep are not bad, some are good, I have had a good customer service with them. However, generally speaking for many people, customer services from Godaddy left much to desire.

Conclusion:

I have been a Godaddy customer and have both good and bad experience. I still have a few domains with them, which I am in process of moving to Namecheap. As namecheap is cheap and provides free whois guard, unlike Godaddy or bluehost.

The biggest lure of Godaddy is abdunce of coupon codes available, making you feel you are getting a great domain and/or hosting a cheap price, but by the time you buy it it may not be cheap at all and you end up spending same of more for the same thing. See example, here is a rough price breakdown for domain according to domain comparison site.

Price Breakdown:

  • GoDaddy $10.69 per year
  • Namecheap.com $9.69 per year
  • Name.com $8.99 pear year

SOPA Postponed (Not Cancelled) and Tumblr Reaches 120 Millions People

There has been overwhelmingly news reporting in SOPA issue so, I will keep it short. SOPA has been postponed for now, but notice it is NOT cancelled. I am  not sure it is victory or time to celebration yet. For time being SOPA and PIPA has been on hold for now. Here is the recap.

All that said, neither PIPA nor SOPA are totally dead, with both houses of Congress postponing rather than cancelling outright votes on measures to help content owners to enforce their copyrights online. The music and movie industries will continue to lobby on the issue of web-blocking, though their political allies in Washington will presumably propose they put a bit more effort into crafting safeguards to satisfy legit online operations that they would not be hindered by any new web-block system, and that claims of infringement by rights owners would be subject to proper scrutiny.
